Welcome to me learning how to petition so you don't have to! My hope it to turn this blog space into a community platform. Here, we can work together to make the world a better place. Eventually, I hope to support multiple petitions every month. You have no idea how important this support it.

It isn't all hopeless. So long as we have community and optimism, change is possible.

During my stay at the Cone Behavioral Center, I was forced to consume only protein shakes, as very few meals were available to me. Eating meat makes me feel extremely ill, but it was surprisingly consistent in the cafeteria every day. It would be nice if cafeteria meals offered a wider variety to patients.

In Greensboro, NC, mental health facilities should cater to all dietary needs, including those who are intolerant or allergic to meat. A nutritious and balanced diet is crucial for recovery, and offering only lettuce as a substitute for those unable to consume meat is not enough. Proper nutrition significantly impacts mental health, and patients deserve options that accommodate their specific dietary restrictions.

Statistics from the Food Allergy Research & Education show that millions of Americans suffer from food intolerances, which include meat. Ignoring these needs can hinder recovery and overall well-being for patients who depend on these facilities for support and healing.

Incorporating a diverse array of plant-based proteins and meat-free options can ensure that all patients have access to meals that are not only filling but also nutritious. Options such as beans, lentils, tofu, and other protein-rich foods should be staples in cafeteria menus, catering to those who require alternative diets. By expanding the current menu to include more inclusive meal options, facilities can foster a more welcoming and supportive atmosphere for healing.

I urge the management of the Cone Behavioral Center and other similar facilities in Greensboro to take immediate action to provide improved meal options. Please join me in advocating for a necessary change to ensure the well-being of all patients. Sign this petition to support the addition of diverse, nutritious, and inclusive meal options for those with dietary restrictions.
