How to Look Good In Yellow

INTRODUCTION
Yellow is a beautiful color. It's perfect for any Summer outing, and soft for all well lit Winter festivities. However, here at Yellow Neon, I often hear a particularly troubling phrase. The words take me by surprise.
"I don't look good in yellow."
We look good in any color we choose to wear. The problem arises when we favor a specific color, hold biases against others, and don't give colors a fair try. Although I look good in yellow, I also rock shades or red, blue, and pink. I never wear pink.
For those of you willing to try a new color, let me lend you a helping hand. Here is what you need to think about when deciding on your color wheel.
SKIN TONE VERSUS YELLOW
I first discovered the dilemma with my Great Aunt, who is entirely Italian and proud to be so. I am, quite literally, half of the Italian that she'll always be. My skin is a creamy white, while her skin is a beautiful olive.
I was introducing Yellow Neon to her for the first time, and it brought up an interesting dilemma.
"Yellow doesn't match my skin tone."
Those were her exact words to me. So I went off and did some research. Plenty of people can rock Yellow, skin tone aside, but it was about finding the right shade.
I have an entire article about finding the best shades of yellow, but the truth is this; Rocking yellow takes time and confidence. People who love to stand out, love this bright and optimistic color.
Your choice of yellow is critical. I recommend a dijon yellow, pastel yellow or canary yellow for those who have darker skin. People with a lighter skin tone tend to wear lemon yellow and brass yellow. Ultimately, these are only suggestions.
Your choice of yellow is up to you.
OCCASIONAL AND ENVIORNMENTAL
Others may struggle with Yellow because other people gave them a reason to. Many claim that color can only be worn seasonally. Some may pull assumptions from the color you hold so dearly.
Yellow can be worn during any season. Yes, the color is most radiant during the Spring and Summer. However, it is a beautiful accent to any cold environment.
Think the Autumn leaves, candles around a table, lights on a tree, the sheen of a good Halloween costume. The season may shift, but color is always here to stay.
Wearing a confident color doesn't make you entitled, or an asshole. We are all different people who wear it for a variety of reasons. Don't put that pressure on yourself to conform.
At Yellow Neon, we wear Yellow to feel more optimistic about our life. Similarly, others might wear red to feel sexy. Wear what you need to shine the brightest.
THEMATIC YELLOW
Finally, many of us don't wear yellow because it is boxed into two very specific categories. There is feminine yellow, and masculine yellow. Do you want a flower shirt or a vaguely yellow set of athletic shorts?
I started Yellow Neon because I got frustrated while trying to find something yellow to wear. I went to the mall and found weirdly vague yellow print on shirts. Online, all I could find were spotted dresses.
GUYS IT IS 2025 AS I AM WRITING THIS ARTICLE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE SUCH A PROBLEM.
Yellow Neon has a contact form for anyone searching for their niche type of yellow. The color should never feel like a label. I love bee themed clothing, but you might not. There is nothing wrong with suggesting something new or different.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Yellow is a diverse color. Finding the right shade, friendly circle, and theme will boost your experience with this color dramatically.
Yellow Neon will always be a community for you if you need it. I'm also working on a Yellow index so everyone can better understand the beauty of yellow. Until then, we have other articles that might help you out. Give us a deep dive! We'd really appreciate it.
